Experience
Denise Gaulin is the firm’s Healthcare Consulting Practice Leader and is a recognized healthcare industry expert with more than 30 years of experience. Denise focuses on developing and providing services for healthcare organizations that involve medical necessity, quality reporting, clinical operations, coding, revenue cycle and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining Windham Brannon, she was a senior client management executive who led complex engagements for a Top 20 national consulting firm, including procurement activities, scope development, strategy development and client management. She also helped to lead merger and acquisition due diligence on behalf of private equity and venture capital firms.
Denise has experience as a healthcare litigation expert and expert witness, working cases that involved provider governmental investigations and payor-provider payment disputes. Denise has served as an expert witness in various healthcare disputes including behavioral health, anesthesiology provider- payer disagreements, therapy service medical necessity delivery payor resolution and charge line-item denial provider-payor determinations. Denise has also served numerous healthcare entities as an Independent Review Organization and provided guidance on behalf of large multisystem healthcare organizations in the execution and administration of Corporate Integrity Agreements.
Denise has been recognized by Influential Women for her pioneering leadership in healthcare consulting, an honor that reflects her long-standing commitment to advancing regulatory excellence and supporting the growth of healthcare organizations.
Denise earned her Bachelor of Science from Radford University and serves as an instructor for the Healthcare Financial Management Association, American Health Law Association, Healthcare Compliance Association, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors.
